Aventura Claims Adjuster

Miami Dade Claims

A small suburban city located in the northeastern part of Miami-Dade County, Aventura began as a planned community in the early 1970s. Its name comes from a Spanish word that means “adventure,” which is exactly what its residents regularly encounter during the rainy season.

Like most of the regions in Southern Florida, Aventura has a tropical monsoon climate. Almost all of the rain falls during the wet season, which lasts from May to November. The area is also susceptible to tropical storms and hurricanes. In fact, hurricane season coincides with the rainy season.

In October of 2005, the city of Aventura was decimated by Hurricane Wilma. Hundreds of homes, apartments, and condos were flooded, many of which sustained irreparable damage. Even the town library was destroyed and has yet to be rebuilt. Residents who lived in highrises were not immune. Terraces were ripped off and electricity was knocked out for days!

Every Floridian knows you’re only one storm away from disaster. Most do the right thing and take proper precautions to protect their homes and families. They put storm shutters and panels on all windows and batten down the hatches when the emergency sirens sound. But sometimes they forget to update their insurance policies.

Property insurance generally covers most of the damage that is directly caused by a storm. Whether it is a hurricane or tropical storm, your home should be covered if it is hit by flying debris or a falling tree limb. Homeowner’s insurance may also protect you from flood damage. It really does depend where you reside and what the local laws are.

Because of increased flooding, local representatives have been able to secure additional insurance coverage for their residents. This means they no longer have to purchase separate flood insurance policies. They are now completely protected from inundation under their property insurance policies.
